I was born in Split, Croatia, 30 years ago, and have been fortunate to call this beautiful city home my entire life. Growing up, I created countless cherished memories spending summers on Croatia’s stunning islands. Life on the islands, with its relaxed pace, days spent by the sea from sunrise to sundown, and simple joys, shaped my childhood.
I was also deeply inspired by travel documentaries, dreaming of all the places I’d visit when I grew up. Those dreams fueled my passion for travel and tourism, leading me to a career in the industry. For the past 15 years, I’ve been introducing travelers from around the globe to the beauty of my hometown and beyond—a role I consider both a privilege and a calling.
So far, I’ve visited 17 countries, but I’m determined to reach all 197. I joined Unforgettable Croatia in 2019 and now proudly serve as Director of Operations.

What's Your Most Memorable Trip?
I’ve cherished every trip I’ve taken, but my most unforgettable adventure was Thailand in December 2023—a destination I had dreamed of visiting for years! It was my first journey to Asia, and it exceeded every expectation. From the warm and welcoming people to the vibrant atmosphere, breathtaking scenery, and mouthwatering cuisine, every moment was pure magic.
Jelena's Top Tips
- Get familiar with “pomalo”, a Croatian word that is particularly important on the Dalmatian Coast, meaning to go slowly, relax, and take things easy, and “fjaka”, a state of mind often described as the ‘sweetness of doing nothing’.
- Make sure to bring sunglasses – the sunlight in Croatia is bright!
- Always carry cash, especially for local markets.
