Croatia Travel Restrictions 2022
Croatia Coronavirus Travel Updates
This extensive and detailed travel hub for travel to and from Croatia, is updated regularly to provide you with the most current information available, regarding the current entry requirements to Croatia, which are changing regularly during the prolonged pandemic.
In 2019, Croatia experienced nearly 20 million international visitors and had been one of the fastest growing destinations for visitor numbers for any country in recent history. In 2020 visitor numbers fell dramatically with the closing of the borders and travel restrictions that affected the entire globe.
Croatia was fortunately one of the first European countries that had immediately closed its borders for international tourism in early March 2020, gradually opening up and easing restrictions on entry, as the summer season progressed. As Croatia is predominantly a summer European travel destination, international tourism between November and April is always very limited, which is why the country opted to close its borders over the quieter winter period.
From mid-May 2020 onwards the Croatia borders were open to all travelers, including Americans who required a PCR test to enter the country. Whilst the EU banned American visitors from entering Schengen countries in 2020, Croatia is not part of the Schengen region and is able to maintain control of its own borders.
Summer 2021 was extremely successful in Croatia with huge numbers international visitors from across the globe and the 2022 season is likely to be the busiest to date. The restaurants, hotels and other tourist facilities are all now open and it is business as usual.
As of May 1, 2022, the Croatian government have advised that there are no Covid restrictions on entry, regardless of vaccination status.
However, if you are visiting other countries during the trip, please do check requirements for that individual country.
We would also recommend that you check with your individual airline prior to departure, especially if you are transiting another European country.
To quicken the process when entering Croatia, it is advised but not obligatory that you complete the Enter Croatia Form.
