Day 2 – Zagreb (Visit the Trakoscan & Velikli Tabor Castles)
Situated just outside of Zagreb’s city boundaries are the historic castles of Trakoscan and Velikli Tabor. Trakošćan Castle dates to the 13th century, when it was built as part of the defence against the Ottoman Empire, for the Zagorje principality. Walk through the castle grounds and explore its lush park and forest park with lake. Enjoy a delicious freshly prepared lunch at a local farm restaurant. The scenic vista of rolling hills is quite simply breathtaking. On arrival at the rustic Veliki Tabor Castle, admire the unique rooftop that is constructed from twelve different roofs, reflecting its 12th century origins.

Day 3 – Plitvice Lakes (Transfer from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes – waterfalls – train/ electronic boat)
The unmissable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Plitvice Lakes is one of the most popular and impressive tourist attractions in Croatia. The National Park boasts 16 interlinked lakes that are connected by multiple thunderous, cascading waterfalls. Stroll along the wooden pathways and explore the beautiful indigenous flora and fauna. In the afternoon, you can venture on your own expedition around the park. Hop aboard the train or take the electric boat out across the tranquil lakes to explore further afield.
Preferred Hotel – Hotel Degenija
Day 4 – Split (Transfer from Plitvice to Split – private guided tour of the old town & Diocletian’s Palace)
Today we arrive in the historic city of Split. The coastal city is home to the world famous, UNESCO-listed fortress-like complex of Diocletian’s Palace, which was built in the 4th century. Join our private guided tour of the city’s Old Town, and wander along the cobblestone streets that come alive with history, stories and legends with every step you take. Explore the Temple of Jupiter, and have a drink in the Court of Peristyle, before climbing to the top of St Domnius Church’s bell tower to feast your eyes on the fabulous captivating views of the city and surrounding islands.
Day 5 – Split (Sea kayaking in Brela)
We leave Split this morning and head for the charming beach town of Brela, for an exciting sea kayaking excursion. The crystalline waters that surround Brela are renowned for their purity and tranquillity, and offer great spots for swimming, snorkelling or sun worshipping on the sand. The sandy beaches of Brela are linked together like a necklace and stretch out for 6km. This is the perfect location for a relaxing, almost deserted escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Dramatic Mount Biokovo, in the background, is the second highest mountain range in Croatia and provides a scenic distraction.
Day 6 – Split (Day of leisure – speedboat tour of the Blue Cave – Visit Hvar/ Vis)
After an early breakfast, board an exciting speedboat tour of the famous Blue Cave, the islands of Hvar or Vis. The Blue Cave (or Blue Grotto) is a unique, natural phenomenon that is not to be missed. After exploring the Blue Cave, head to Vis and enjoy a swim stop in the Stiniva Cove rated as one of the best beaches in the world. Finish the day with a couple of hours exploring the chic island of Hvar with its pristine Old Town and pretty marina before returning to Split. Enjoy plenty of swimming opportunities in secluded bays on this great family day out.
Day 7 – Dubrovnik (Transfer from Split to Dubrovnik – private guided tour of the old town)
Continue your journey into the historic city of Dubrovnik. The UNESCO-listed city is best known for the massive ancient 16th century stone walls that encircle, shield and protect it. Join our private guided walking tour and explore the charming Old Town. Along with the city’s iconic landmarks and monuments, you will also discover many locations that featured in the hit TV show Games of Thrones. Dubrovnik is remarkably well preserved, having survived the Homeland war of the 90s, and its marbled streets, medieval architecture, Baroque churches, Gothic palaces and defensive wall structures ensure that you enjoy a uniquely immersive experience.
Day 8 – Dubrovnik (Visit the rural Konavle region – Franciscan monastery – wine-tasting)
We temporarily escape Dubrovnik to head to the beautiful Konavle region, situated just outside the city to start our afternoon biking tour. The magical journey will lead you through stunning vineyards, lush herb gardens, and across bridges and rivers. Along the way, there are brief stops to explore and learn about the historical and cultural significance of this part of the Konavle region. Visit the Franciscan monastery and old mill that are in the small, neighbouring village of Ljuta. At the end of your bike tour, sample the locally produced wines.
Day 9 – Dubrovnik (Day of leisure – cable car/ tour to Montenegro)
Explore the rest of Dubrovnik at your own pace today. The Old Town is crammed full of interesting and intriguing historic palaces, art galleries, museums and churches to discover and enjoy. There is also an excellent selection of shops for last minute souvenir shopping. If you prefer, you can sit and relax in a cool coffee shop and watch the world go by.
