Zagreb (Arrival in Zagreb + afternoon city tour)
Your unforgettable getaway begins in the Croatian capital of Zagreb. Upon your arrival to Zagreb’s airport, you’ll be met by your private driver for transfer to your upscale hotel in the city. Take time to settle in and then join a private tour to gain insight into both the modern and historic sides of Zagreb starting in the main square. Ride the world’s shortest cable car, enjoy spectacular views from Upper Town, marvel at Zagreb Cathedral, and browse the city’s largest green market.
Zagreb (Trakoscan Castle + local food/wine in Samobor)
A day trip from Zagreb brings you to 13th century Trakoscan Catle, passing charming villages and snow-covered peaks while learning about the area’s history from your expert guide. You’ll be able to step into royal history and explore the castle museum before enjoying a walk in the park below. Head to Samobor town, enjoying views of the serene countryside along with local, homemade specialties paired with outstanding local wine before returning to Zagreb with the rest of the day at your leisure.
Bled (Ljubljana tour)
After breakfast, head to your next destination with your driver/guide stopping in Ljubljana for a tour. You’ll walk through the storybook Old Town with its baroque buildings and the farmer’s market, marvel at the St. Nicholas Cathedral and medieval fortress that towers over the city. Enjoy lunch and local draft beer before continuing toward Lake Bled with its picture-postcard looks, surrounded by the stunning Julian Alps. Your driver/guide will drop you off at your hotel in Bled where you’ll spend the next two nights.
Bled (Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj tour)
You’ll have plenty of time to capture photos of breathtaking Lake Bled with a tour around its shoreline this morning. Shots of the tiny islet with a pretty church and the medieval castle clinging to the cliffs with the Julian Alps soaring in the background are absolute musts. Visit the island on a traditional “pletna” boat, enjoy lunch at a local eatery and then continue on to Lake Bohinj, riding the cable car up Vogel Mountain followed by a Bohinj tour.
Rovinj (Postojna Cave and Predama Castle tour)
Returning to Croatia today, you’ll stop to tour both Postojna Cave and Predama Castle. First, hop on a train to travel into the belly of the cave and then explore a fairytale world of knights at the castle nearby. Unique and stunning, it was built into karst rock with the cave and castle melding into one. Afterwards, enjoy a traditional lunch at a local eatery and then continue on to elegant Rovinj where you drive will deliver you to your hotel.
Rovinj (Istrian Peninsula tour – Pula and Motovun)
Take the morning to soak up the romantic atmosphere of Rovinj and then join your driver/guide for a tour of Istria, starting in seaside Pula, home to a well-preserved 1st-century Roman amphitheater that’s one of Croatia’s most famous sights. Explore the interior landscapes with its lush green hills, vineyards and medieval hilltop villages reminiscent of Tuscany. You’ll visit Motovun, renowned for its rare truffles, to enjoy a traditional Istrian lunch before returning to Rovinj, with the evening yours to enjoy.
Plitvice (Rastoke and Plitvice Lakes National Park tour)
Continuing to Plitvice Lakes National Park, stop to visit beautiful Rastoke, sometimes referred to as a mini-Plitvice with its similar water-filled landscape. Upon arrival to the national park, you’ll hop on a boat for a ride across emerald Kozjack Lake before walking the paths that lead to 16 interconnected lakes and some 100 waterfalls. A panoramic train ride brings you back to where you began. Enjoy a traditional lunch in a local restaurant before checking into your Plitvice hotel.
Split (Wine tasting at a sought after winery)
Continue to Split with a full day of touring along the way. Our first stop is a highly sought after family run winery which was a Anthony Bourdain favourite. Enjoy tasting a selection of locally produced wines and snacks and discover why this has become one of Croatia’s most coveted wine producers. Thereafter continue your journey to the walled coastal city of Sibenik, established over a thousand years ago, famous as the home of one of Croatia’s most important cathedrals, the gothic-Renaissance Cathedral of St. James. Finish your day in Split with check in at your hotel.
Split (Split and Trogir tour)
This morning you’ll travel back in time to the ancient Roman Empire with a tour of Split’s historic center, nearly half of which includes the 4th-century Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace. Afterward our private guide will drive you to Trogir where he will take you around Trogir, a 2,300-year-old UNESCO World Heritage Site, with some of the most well-preserved Romanesque-Gothic architecture in all of Central Europe.
Hvar (Hvar Island tour with wine and olive oil tastings + lunch)
Saying farewell to Split, you’ll journey to Hvar Island, touring the impressive landscapes and attractions on your way to Hvar Town. You’ll see the gorgeous lavender fields near the village of Brusje and then meet up with a local winemaker who will invite you into their underground wine cellar and beautiful tasting room. Enjoy sampling a selection of local wines and snacks. A delicious traditional Croatian lunch awaits you before you arrive in Hvar.
Hvar (Speed boat tour of Blue Cave and Pakleni Islands)
Today you are off to discover the beautiful Pakleni Islands and enchanting Blue Cave on a small group private speed tour. Enjoy a trip inside the spectacular and surreal blue cave along with a visit to Stiniva Cove, often featured in guides to the worlds best beaches. Finish the day with a visit to Palmizana Island where you will have time to enjoy lunch with a view. This very popular day out includes swim stops and time to relax in beautiful crystal clear bays.
Dubrovnik (Ston oyster tasting and Peljesac Peninsula wine tasting)
Your memorable tour continues to Dubrovnik, but there will be several stops made first. Catch the ferry in Sucuraj to reach the mainland where you’ll travel to Ston, known for Europe’s longest stone wall as well as its oyster-growing farms, around since the Roman era. Sample the mouthwatering oysters, some of the world’s best, before driving across one of Croatia’s top wine regions, the Peljesac Peninsula. Here you’ll visit a local family winery for a tasting, ending the day in Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik (Dubrovnik Old City tour)
On your final full day, tour Dubrovnik’s walled Old City starting at the majestic Pile Gate that sits at the top of Stradun, the main street. View landmarks like the Franciscan Monastery which hosts one of Europe’s oldest still active pharmacies, dating to the 14th-century. After the tour, you’ll have the rest of the day on your own – we suggest a walk atop the medieval walls that provide a breathtaking view of the sea on one side and the red-tiled roofs on the other.
After two weeks of touring Slovenia and Croatia, your trip comes to an end. After checking out of your hotel, meet your private driver for transfer to Dubrovnik Airport.
