Split (Arrival into Split with the afternoon at your leisure)
Your Dalmatian Coast Romance tour begins with your arrival into Split International Airport. You’ll be met by your private driver for transfer to your hotel in the city that was birthed in the early 4th-century when Roman Emperor Diocletian chose the area to build his retirement residence. After getting settled in, you might stroll the narrow streets of the palace complex, home to some of the world’s most well-preserved Roman architecture. Climb the St. Domnius bell tower to take in a panoramic view together.
Split (Culinary tour + optional afternoon tour of Trogir)
Join our local gourmet guide for a culinary/history tour of some of Split’s tastiest gastronomic spots while exploring historic landmarks in the palace. Start at the Green Market learning about the local foods and enjoying samples, followed by a visit to a traditional konoba, a restaurant known for its local specialties such as handmade pasta. Try authentic soparnik (peasant pie) next, concluding with pastries and gelato at the city’s oldest pastry shop. An optional afternoon tour of Trogir, a “town museum,” is possible too.
Split (Krka National Park and Sibenik tour)
Your private driver/guide will bring you on an excursion to Krka National Park and Sibenik. Along the way learn all about the history behind the park, stopping for a quick tour of the small town of Skradin at its entrance. Hop on a boat, cruising up Krka River to walk the pathways leading to spectacular falls, with time to swim in a serene pool below. On your return, explore fortified Sibenik to discover impressive landmarks like the gothic-renaissance St. James Cathedral.
Hvar (Transfer via catamaran from Split; afternoon at leisure)
Hop in a catamaran, cruising to Hvar under the Mediterranean sun. After checking into your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy this popular island, known for its superyacht-filled harbor with world-class eateries, legendary beach bars and lively nightlife drawing lots of international jetsetters, including celebrities. Visit the main square to witness some of its history, perhaps climbing to the top of Fortica Fortress just before dusk to watch the sun go down over the harbor, city and nearby islands.
Hvar (Speedboat tour around the Pakleni Islands)
Legend tells that the string of emerald jewels off the coast of Hvar known as the Paklenis came into existence thanks to a “secret love” between a nymph and the sea god Poseidon. See why this archipelago is so special by embarking on a speedboat tour today. While cruising the islands, sip wine while surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. Your skipper will seek out one of the unspoiled, secluded beaches framed by crystal-clear cobalt waters so that you can enjoy a memorable swim.
Dubrovnik (Transfer via catamaran from Hvar; afternoon at leisure)
This morning it’s time to say goodbye to Hvar, taking transfer by catamaran to Dubrovnik, the so-called “Pearl of the Adriatic” and one of the world’s most romantic cities. After checking into your hotel, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. A short walk in either direction will bring you to a pebbly stretch of beach for sunbathing and swimming, or you might enjoy relaxing around the pool. In the evening, enjoy dinner with a sea view.
Dubrovnik (Old City Dubrovnik Tour with cable car ride)
Enjoy your final day visiting Montenegro’s city of Kotor and Kotor Bay on our half-day private guided tour. Constructed by the Romans and early Christians in the 12th and 14th centuries, the city of Kotor is well preserved and boasts 14 km medieval walls and breathtaking architecture that is UNESCO World Heritage Site protected. The beautiful winding and uninhabited Kotor Bay is one of the most untouched spots in the Mediterranean. The tranquil bay is surrounded by imposing cliffs and lush fjords and is an idyllic romantic spot when you can relax and soak up the atmosphere and spectacular scenery.
Dubrovnik (Day of leisure in Dubrovnik or optional home-hosted cooking experience)
Enjoy a day of leisure, perhaps exploring more of the Old City, following in the footsteps of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor who often enjoyed romantic liaisons here. Stroll hand-in-hand, stealing the occasional kiss and dining in private nooks at intimate eateries. Or paddle to Lokrum Island on a kayak tour, enjoying the beaches and wandering among peacocks in the lush reserve. An optional home-hosted cooking experience is possible too, something many have called one of the top highlights of their trip.
Your Dalmatian Coast Romance adventure comes to an end today, but if you’d like to extend your trip our travel experts can create a bespoke addition, whether you prefer to spend more time in Dubrovnik or head elsewhere. Otherwise, after checking out of your hotel, you’ll be met by private transfer to Dubrovnik Airport to catch your return flight home.
